As the name suggests TC Tool & Die are tool-makers with strengths lying in both plastic injection molding and press tool disciplines. Since the middle of 2002, however, they have found themselves in the niche-market of checking fixture specialists. TC Tool & Die manufactured checking fixtures for many of the recently launched Toyota Hilux chassis, components and sub-assemblies as well as the most recent project launched by Toyota in South Africa.
TC Tool & Die manufacture specialised machinery and combine all aspects of automation in terms of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrics and PLC.
TC Tool & Die also have a large general precision engineering division where they manufacture shafts, hydraulic cylinders (both refurbishment and new ones), rollers, bearing housings, eccentrics, and generally any mechanical components associated with plant maintenance. Their breakdown service is available 24 hours.
They recently acquired a new 80 ton eccentric press which was purchased predominantly for tooling tryouts but is currently being put to maximum use on a contract run.
Tony Camitsis feels he would like to grow this side of the business and has recently acquired a second hand 200 ton hydraulic press with the view to purchase a projection welder and CO² welder so that they can offer the manufacture of sub-assemblies.
TC Tool & Die recently also acknowledged the need to acquire a Cad-To-Part 3-D measuring facility as all major O.E.M.’s and even their first tier suppliers require that all fixtures are dimensionally measured and correct upon delivery. It is an invaluable tool for capability studies where a company needs to verify that their components, both plastic and metal pressings, are consistent, and if not, to be able to determine where the discrepancy lies. TC Tool & Die have approached Traconsa S.A. regarding this facility and they have flown Tony Camitsis to Johannesburg to view the system they can supply. It is Tony's intention to acquire this incredible technology by the end of the year.
